Plenty of interesting things happened during this international ‘break’. Messi scored 2 goals in the 25 minutes he played for Argentina, Rooney became England’s all time leading goal scorer and San Marino scored their first official away goal in 14 years. Meanwhile in the USA, Brazil and the USA played a friendly game and Neymar added two more goals to his now grand total of 46 goals for la Seleçao. 46, traquilo. An incredible amount considering that he has only turned 23 this year. He was born in 1992. 1992!

Doing some simple math and considering he debuted and his 18th, he should easily be able to reach 100 international goals. An amount never surpassed by a Brazilian football player and by only ONE player in the history of football: Ali Daei with 109.
An interesting note is that Daei only debuted at the age of 24. We could say Neymar already took a 46 goal lead on him.
Let’s graph how Neymar is holding up against some of the history’s greatest national team goal scorers:

Note: I made a quite arbitral selection of 10 top goal scorers. Those 10 are for me the most interesting current and historial players.
